HOW DOES THE PLASMA PEN WORK?
As we get older, the collagen and elastin in our bodies degrade, weakening the structural integrity or “scaffolding” that holds up the skin. This causes skin wrinkling and/or sagging. Plasma “fibroblasting” triggers fibroblast cell division in the body to stimulate a good subdermal cleanout and stimulate collagen and elastin production. Fibroblast cells are targeted with precision heat and trauma, using plasma arcs which are produced by the Plasma Pen. This sublimates the skin and in effect, turns the skin matter into a liquid, which dissolves/evaporates. This instantly tightens the skin. Inflammation starts minutes after the induced micro-injuries, which increases blood flow to the area. The body immediately activates and stimulates the fibroblast cells into creating new cells, and brand-new baby skin. The new fibroblast cells spread towards the trauma and leave behind elastin cells and the good types of new collagen (1 and 3). Increased levels of type 3 collagen production then occur for weeks and months after the trauma, which then synthesizes into tougher type 1 collagen. Plasma Pen is the gift that just keeps on giving as it continues to improve for up to 12 weeks. More than one treatment may be necessary for deeper lines, heavier eyelids, for optimum results. This will be discussed during consultation.

What is the downtime?
*Please allow a few days for your skin to start to normalise and for the carbon marks to naturally heal and come away. You are having soft surgery so it is unrealistic to expect there to be no down time.
*Each client heals at different rates depending on diet, lifestyle, age, aftercare followed...it is impossible to be specific.
*Small dots (plasma pen skin tightening) scratch like marks (plasma peel treatment) or carbon marks (targeted treatment areas like pigmentation/mole/lesion removal) from the treated areas will scab over while healing, which naturally fall away from anywhere between 3-9 days.
*The skin will feel hot and tight for 1-3 days.
*Swelling can occur particularly following Plasma Pen around the eyes and neck area. This usually subsides within 2-4 days.
*Skin will most likely appear pink following the exposure of fresh new skin. This can last up to 3 months but can be covered with make-up until fully healed.

Can I wear make-up?
Yes. In your aftercare pack, you will receive a healing lotion that contains SPF, which you can apply to help camouflage the treated area. Once the carbon marks have fallen away, you can return to your normal skincare and make-up application.

Will I see results after one treatment?
Yes! Your skin will be tighter following just one treatment. The deeper the fine lines and wrinkles however, and the more lax the skin, the more treatments you will need. Each treatment works by improving tightness by at least 25% per treatment.

How long do the results last?
Aside from the natural ageing process, results last anywhere from 3-5 years or longer.

Does it hurt?
Anaesthetic is used to numb the area before starting treatment. Once treatment has commenced, a second 'stay numb' anaesthetic is used to add an extra layer. Clients state that discomfort levels are a 3 out of 5, at the most. And this is usually only in certain areas.
Following treatment the treated areas will feel hot and tight. A cold compress can be used to help with this.
